Garden of the Gods and pinball machines

This place is amazing. I honestly thought it was going to be overrated, I mean with a pretentious name for a city park I wasn't expecting too much. The rock formations are exquisite, and there are wild birds everywhere, making it sound like one of those meditation cds you hear while waiting in a dentist's office. After we meandered through the park, we found a quirky city nearby. It is a "hippie town", full of unique things to see, and people to meet. One of the features which surprised me the most was a public water fountain. It looked as if it was at least 200 years old. Calvin sipped some water to test if if came from the river, or if it was indeed an old fashioned public water fountain. It was full of natural carbonated water! I never would have guessed. They also had a large indoor-outdoor arcade that I would highly recommend. The hodgepodge collection of games sprawled out look like a graveyard for vintage games, but we had a blast playing machines that were popular before we were even born. We even earned enough tickets for a few pieces of candy from the prize booth. I'd like to think you're never too old for prizes, or candy.
Randon penny arcade in Manitou Springs. I'm pretty sure this is the last place you can still play pinball for a dime. |
The river that runs through Manitou Springs |
This restaurant is literally built over a river. How cool is that? |
